Chile güero

After a recipe from "Mama Espinoza" in El Rosario, Baja California

INGREDIENTS

15

chile güero or yellow wax chilies

4

small limes

1/2

cup soy sauce

1/2

cup water

olive oil

PREPARATION

Wash and dry the chile güero (5-6 cm long, in American supermarkets available as "yellow wax chilies"). In a cup mix lime juice, soy sauce and water.

Heat olive oil in a small pan. Add the chilies and fry them until they are lightly brown on all sides. Pour in the lime-soy-water-mixture and simmer for about 5 minutes.

Store the chilies in a small bowl in the fridge.

Our special hint:
The marinated chilies make a selection of cold meats and cheeses and a brunch more dynamic.
